Secure online shopping through SSL encryption
Secure Socket Layer (abbreviated: SSL) is THE encryption standard for the secure transmission of data on the Internet. It secures the identity of the computers communicating with each other and guarantees the confidentiality of the transmitted data.
The SSL protocol creates secure connections from three points of view:
- The connection is private in the best sense of the word, because its contents pass over the network only in encrypted form.
- The identity of the server is fixed.
- Effective algorithms check that the data reach their respective recipients completely and unchanged.
The SSL protocol is initiated by appending an s to the well-known http, as for example at https://rimo.fashion. This is the reason for the browser to request a certificate and its public key from the addressed server. This key is reported back to the browser together with a checksum and an ID. This information is calculated by a few certification companies. An SSL connection cannot be used, disturbed or manipulated by third parties. Thus, the transmitted information (address data or order data) is protected against inspection and manipulation by third parties. The encryption is done automatically, so you don't have to do anything else.
You can recognize an active SSL connection by a closed lock at the bottom of your browser screen or by a trailing s after http in the address line of your browser - e.g. https://rimo.fashion.
